Description

BTMS 50 is a conditioning emulsifier commonly used in hair conditioners, hair masks, leave-in products, lotions, creams, and other cosmetic formulations. It provides excellent conditioning and detangling properties while helping create smooth, stable emulsions with a light, elegant skin and hair feel.

BTMS 50 is especially popular in hair care formulations because of its substantivity to the hair. It helps improve wet and dry combability, reduce static and flyaways, and leave hair feeling soft and manageable.

In lotions and creams, BTMS 50 can function as the primary emulsifier while also contributing conditioning properties and body to the finished formulation.

INCI: Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and) Cetyl Alcohol (and) Butylene Glycol

Appearance: White to off-white pastilles

Common Uses: Hair conditioners, hair masks, leave-in conditioners, conditioning bars, lotions, creams, and other hair and skin care formulations

Function: Cationic conditioning agent, emulsifier, and thickener

Typical Usage Rate: 1–15%, depending on the formulation and desired level of conditioning and viscosity

 Add BTMS 50 to the heated oil phase and heat until completely melted. Combine with the heated water phase and mix thoroughly to form the emulsion.

Storage: Store tightly sealed in a cool, dry location away from moisture and excessive heat.
