What is Zinc Ricinoleate?

Zinc Ricinoleate is an odor-control ingredient made from zinc and ricinoleic acid derived from castor oil. It works by binding and trapping odor-causing molecules, helping reduce unpleasant odors within a formulation.

Zinc Ricinoleate is not an antiperspirant and does not block normal perspiration. This makes it especially useful in aluminum-free deodorant formulations designed to control odor without preventing sweating.

How to Use Zinc Ricinoleate

Add Zinc Ricinoleate to the heated oil phase of your formulation. Heat to approximately 176°F (80°C), continuing gentle heat and mixing as needed until the pellets are completely melted and evenly incorporated.

A typical starting usage rate is 1–5%. Always test the finished formulation to determine the appropriate amount and processing method for your product.
