This Body Butter Cream formula combines the moisturizing feel of a body butter with the lighter application of an emulsified cream. Cocoa butter, coconut oil, and sweet almond oil create a rich, conditioning base, while cornstarch helps reduce the greasy or sticky after-feel.

59% Distilled Water
8% Emulsifying Wax
2% Stearic Acid
3% Cocoa Butter
10% Coconut Oil
15% Sweet Almond Oil
1% Cornstarch
1% PE 9010
1% Fragrance

Method
- Weigh the distilled water into a heat-safe container.
- In a separate heat-safe container, combine the emulsifying wax, stearic acid, cocoa butter, coconut oil, and most of the sweet almond oil.
- Reserve a small amount of the sweet almond oil and thoroughly disperse the cornstarch into it until smooth. Add this mixture to the oil phase.
- Heat the water and oil phases separately to approximately 160–170°F (71–77°C), making sure the oil phase is completely melted.
- Combine the phases and stick blend for approximately 2 minutes, or until thoroughly emulsified and uniform. Continue stirring periodically as the cream cools
- . Once the cream has cooled sufficiently, add the PE 9010 and mix very thoroughly. Add fragrance and mix again until completely incorporated.
- Allow the Body Butter Cream to cool and develop its final consistency overnight.
- The following day, whip with a handheld mixer until smooth and fluffy. Cosmetic color may be added if desired.
Body Butter Cream Formulation Notes
Fragrance may be used at 0–1%, provided the amount does not exceed the applicable IFRA usage limit for the particular fragrance. If using less than 1% fragrance, increase the distilled water by the difference to maintain a 100% formula.
Cornstarch helps reduce the greasy or sticky skin feel of this rich, high-oil formula.
Different types or brands of emulsifying wax, as well as substitutions for the oils or butter, may affect the final viscosity, stability, and skin feel. Make a small test batch before scaling.
Because this is a water-containing emulsion, an appropriate broad-spectrum preservative is required.
Color may be added as desired. Use only colorants appropriate for the intended cosmetic application.
